Checkered Upholstered Stool from Swedese Mobler

The black and white checkered stool is called Havana. Inside the checked pattern are small circles which change between white and black to create a cool pattern. These are fun colors to work with in a living room. I can picture this piece in a setting where the predominant furniture is solid white or solid black and Havana makes for an accent piece. It is a simple stool where its shape does not make too strong a design statement and the focus is on color and hopefully, bringing out a bit more color into your living room. Measurements: 66 cm x 66 cm x 41 cm. Product: .

Modern Chaise Lounge Shaped Like a Tongue

I don't associate the human tongue with furniture design in any way. You can therefore understand my surprise at this modern chaise lounge I came across. This chaise is a tongue! An interesting design, this piece of furniture does have the rolls and inclines that you would need to properly recline your body at the right positions. I can't help but think of the Rolling Stones when I see this chair since a tongue is a common logo for the classic rock n' roll band. This piece would also be perfect at a museum for children showing the history of the human body as an educational piece. Product:

Ultra-Contemporary Acrylic Bar Stools

Acrylic bar stools are likely a stretch for most homes in terms of decorating possibilities. In an ultra-contemporary setting, these babies could shine. These bar stools are from Designlush and feature color infused acrylic construction. On first blush they may appear to be glass which would be difficult not to break. Acrylic, however, is a very durable substance able to withstand people's weight as well as being moved around. I really like the shapes of both the bar stools and the accompanying bar table. This product can also be made clear and thus free of color. There are cushions available in leather, sheepskin, and felt to provide some padding. Product: here.

Twister Wooden Bench by Designer Yuriko Takahashi

Twister is a fitting name for this wooden bench designed by Yuriko Takahashi. Twister is constructed of laminated birch veneer and comes in the natural color pictured here or in black. An interesting aspect of the bench is how it "flows" in a room. I am reminded of a roller coaster track and how it shapes contorts as it focuses the cars along the track in a pre-specified direction. An installation of Twister appears in the headquarters of the New York Times building. Measurements: 41 cm x 41 cm per section. Product information: here.
